
Sara Maniscalco
Pianist
Sara Maniscalco has studied the piano since the age of six. Her teachers include Libi Lebel, Ena Bronstein-Barton, and Peter Basquin. Since the age of eight, Sara has played numerous recitals throughout New York City and Europe. At age fourteen, after playing for eight years, Sara began teaching privately. Today, she has a class of over thirty private students.
In April 2004, Sara spent the week in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, attending Piano Master Classes and studying under the direction of Prof. Georgi Kanev on full scholarship. There was a performance gala at the conclusion of the week in which she played a substantial role as performing artist. In August 2004, Sara won Brooklyn Public Library's Piano Competition and subsequently played several concerts sponsored by the library. In December 2004, Sara was invited to perform in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as the sole pianist in a chamber music concert. In June 2005, Sara graduated from Brooklyn College, where she was accepted on full scholarship, with a Bachelor's Degree in Music. She spent the 2005 - 2006 academic year working at the Brooklyn College Preparatory Center and Public School 193, where she worked as a Music Teacher and Accompanist. She spent the summer of 2006 studying piano under Angela Castellarin in Siena, Italy, and giving several concerts in Italy and Switzerland. In September 2006, Sara began teaching at Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, New Jersey, while studying piano under Ena Bronstein-Barton. In June 2009, she completed a Master's Degree in Political Science from Brooklyn College, and next May, she will complete her Master's Degree in Music from Hunter College, where she studies under Peter Basquin.
