
Rebecca Engstrom
Violin
Rebecca Engstrom, violinist, has been making music and speaking to audiences since she gave her first full recital at age 13. She has appeared as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and lecturer, in a variety of musical venues in the US, England, Europe, and Israel. She holds degrees in violin performance from Oberlin Conservatory (B.M) and the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University (M.M) She specialized in chamber music study with Arnold Steinhardt of the Guarneri String Quartet, and has both studied and performed with Stephen Clapp of the Juilliard School. She appears on several recordings with UK composer/song writer Adrian Snell, including his work, "The Cry: A Requiem for the Lost Child", for which Rebecca created and arranged the violin solos, and which made its debut at St. Paul's Cathedral in London in November 2008. From 2004-2007 Rebecca was director of the Zion Conservatory of Music in Zion, Illinois, a unique community music school and venue for arts productions. She has taught at the Westminster College Conservatory in Princeton, New Jersey, the Zion Conservatory, held teaching assistantships at both Oberlin and Rutgers, and maintained a private studio. Rebecca currently resides in Kenosha with her husband and three children.
